See the smaller one? My son says it is actually my favorite. It is very fussy, and reacts the quickest to any change . Especially water changes? I actually split mine as a smaller section was growing out of the base
Omg, so cute! How did I miss him?? Mine is pretty touchy too, lol. They are a beautiful contrast to the others in your reef.

My favorite coral that I already own would have to be the Koji Wada pink nephthea. Pink is my favorite color.

I also love violet-blue or teal-blue corals. If it would survive in my tank, I would love to keep a Hawkins echinata. Love that color.

Other… it’s the contrast of colors and not any one color that takes a good looking tank and makes it into a great looking tank.

Thanks! The filter for blue light photos makes the large yellow mushroom, the Bam Bams and the gsp look brighter than they actually are. The others are fairly accurate. The zoas came from all over - different r2r sales, lfs, etc. I spot feed them a lot, which may have something to do with the good color.

For me i look for corals that have contrasting color patterns like my Jason fox yellow fever montipora. It has bright yellow polyps and a very bright purple pigment everywhere else. Depending on lighting and water parameters I’ve noticed that the new growth can come in looking green and sometimes almost a pinkish color. That coral has great contrasting colors. Of course mushroom corals are known to have amazing color patterns especially when you get into the higher end side of them. But for a single colored coral I’d have to say yellow or orange really stand out to me personally. I really like a lot of chalice corals for the same reason. They add so much color to you tank

There are many reasons to love coral! Reasons like...they are living animals, they grow in your house, they vary is size, shape growth pattern etc. But one of the things we love most about coral is the COLOR aspect! A few of you don't care that much about color but I would imagine that an overwhelming majority care an awful lot about the color of the coral they add to their reef tank! So let's chit chat about it today!

1. What coral do you think has the BEST overall color or color combo in the reef aquarium hobby? (use common names)

2. What is your favorite color when it comes to coral in your reef tank?

I voted “other” because the ones that always catch my eye are the teal coloured corals. I have a teal and brown striped trachy that looks gorgeous when it catches its food because the colours pop more when it’s eating and scrunches up
