My 130 g reef tank has been doing well. It is pretty much at the limit with fish at the moment and several healthy corals. My problem is that in the last week my counts have been off a bit and partial water changes are not correcting the issue. After a 20% change my ph was 8, cal 360, alkalinity 5, and mag 1420. All other were good. I use tropic Marin reef salt and in the past a change has fixed the issue. I’m early in the hobby and only have basic equipment. I’m assuming that I need to add something but not sure what, or how to go about it. Help please.

+1 on BRS 2 part. Do you have any idea as to how much alk your tank is using every day?

I do not. I test once a week. Before and after water changes. In the past it had dipped right b4 changes, but was corrected by the new water. This time it did not correct. The calcium has been running 420 to 450. It did not correct this time either. All other parameters are pretty good. Very little algae, but the corals are growing like crazy

Those crazy growing corals are outpacing the rate at which you replace elements through water changes. Although you said LPS, what kind?

Probably time to start dosing. To get started, you will need to know how much alk your tank consumes daily. Just measure it two days back to back, around same time of day. Depending on what the rate is, you will have different options to consider

I didn’t mean to post 2. There’s more of the frog spawn on the other end
