Hello all I have asked before but it was such a juvenile at the time.
This is a month or so later and a bit more grown.
He is impossible to video and or take pictures of as he always hides in this rock.
Thoughts?

Crab video.

Basic rule of thumb is claws that end in blunt ends “generally” reef safe. Claws that end in sharp points are bad news. Those claws are definitely not blunt. It is a pretty critter though. Try banishing it to your sump.

Any ideas how to coax him out for capture lol.

So far he is a model citizen and just keeps to himself, hanging out in his little cave.
This will change as he is getting bigger and will outgrow his spot so he will have to find another.

That might be a way.
He does hang out at the bottom of the tank though.

He had much more hair or fuzz on his legs a month ago. Seems Its is shedding off I guess.

My guess he could fit on a quarter to a fifty cent piece for a size comparison.

He is really a cool fellow, I would like to keep him in the DT.
I gather if he becomes a coral or live fish eating crab I will have no choice but to capture and sump him.

Small Gatorade or Powerade bottle is a great trap for crabs. You just need a bottle with a mouth large enough for it to fit in.

Cut the bottle where the neck matches the body, flip the neck to where the mouth is now inverted inside the bottle. Little superglue to hold it there and some small holes drilled in it to let air out. Put a small piece of shrimp in and position it at its spot. Then wait. Has worked for me tons of time with real LR for KP or TB.

That will work, I have plenty of them around.
Thanks.

I just wish I could find out what species he is.
Thought he was a Gorrilla, then an Acro, ruled them out.

Its hard to see but his body is more diamond shaped.
Fairly even on his coloring, no striping or banding.
Claws are all black tip to body.

He has doubled in size ove 4-6 weeks but I have not found any sheds.

Catch and take pictures would help a ton. With better pics of the full body and claws, it should be easy then.

Ok last time maybe third time is the charm.
So my unknown crab has molted and I retrieved it and took pictures.
What kind is he, and good or bad?
