So 8 woke up this morning and my couch next to my tank is wet and covered in salt. So is the floor around the tank. The rim of the tank, the lid to my filter and my ato valve. I have no cracks, leaks, dips in salinity, the surface of the water is extremely calm.

Was you asking something or just a FYI?
Yeah, what can cause this. Sorry super early and didnt think the post out. What would cause so much water everywhere if there isnt much surface movement. The water is on the top of my couch as well which would make no sense if there was a leak in the tank. Does the aqua clear filter have a habit of this if there isnt a lid by chance?

IME, HOB filters in general cause this kind of thing. There may not be a lot of water movement, but everytime an air bubble pops, salt goes everywhere. HOB's cause air bubbles, nearly microscopic even, and they cause worse salt creep.

If the area that your tank is in, is very humid, in the right conditions, this could happen, especially with an open top.

I had similar issues in my basement. I had very, very little splashing in my sump but the salt gradually built up. I've redone my system and am now in the process of gradually cleaning it all up.

What was the issue? An old home and the heat generated by my equipment meant that I had to run a fan to blow across the sump when the tank got warm, a fan to circulate air in the basement, and an AC to cool and dehumidify.

That’s why I have a vented hood on top of my aquarium. I have been in this hobby along time and still can’t figure out how salt gets on everything. I wipe down the inside of my stand once a month.

Basically an aquarium is a humidifier think about it in terms of dew point. When dew point equals temperature the atmosphere gives off moisture
