Been building my dream tank for about a year now. Bought a new 48"x30"x24" Crystal dynamic tank and started to install all my equipment. I ran the tank for about 6 weeks before putting any light to the tank. Once I felt my tank had cycled I finally turned on the lights. Only to find that my new tank had some defects. The front panel has about 50 air bubbles inside of the panel. The sides have a few as well. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem? I contacted Crystal dynamics and they said 1 out of 80 panels are defective. The rep said it's not possible to have more than 1 defective panel. He also said he will be coming from so cal to the bay area in a few weeks to check out the tank. Any advise?

I think you're on the right track by letting them check out the tank in person. Do you happen to have any pictures of the air bubbles in question?

So..... Yesterday Trent from Crystal dynamics drove from San Diego to my house in Livermore. "quite the drive". Came inside to take a look at the air bubbles on the glass. Right away he agreed that there were indeed a ton of air bubbles. While looking inside the front panel of glass, he then realized that my new tank not only had air bubbles in the glass, but it was just a normal glass. NOT the starfire glass that I payed a ton of money for. what the heck really?
He then told me that they will replace the tank in 6-8 weeks. Wow...

I definitely feel your pain, but that’s nice to know he was honest and pointed out that it was also the wrong type of glass, along with replacing it.

Just wanted to post a update about the issue with my Crystal dynamic tank. I was informed that the glass I referred to in my Prior post was not a clear glass it was a opiwhite low iron glass that they used when there was a nationwide shortage of starfire glass. My new tank is being made and delivered. I am very pleased that Trent from Crystal dynamic has worked at making this right with me.

Thank you for posting your issues with crystal dynamic. I am having my own issues with my new tank made by crystal dynamic. There seems to be a lot of issues going on with them and now I am concerned. Please update on if your new tank has arrived yet!

Very nice build and really sorry you have to tear it down, but I am glad they took care of it.

Would you share what issues you’re dealing with? Ive put my deposit on a CDA tank as well and am curious what others have experienced. In my searches I didn’t find much negative. Thx

While its frustrating you need to deal with replacement at all its good to know they stand by there tanks and go as far sending someone to see it in person. I had heard about the issues sourcing starphire over the winter but thought that’s been rectified now. I was told to expect a 10 week lead time for delivery.

Message me on here and I can go into detail. I don't really want to post out in the open - I am giving them the chance to resolve my issue..
