Cure dryrock in display tank or outside of display tank?

Hey All,

I'm new to the hobby and almost have all my equipment but still need to do some plumbing. I am going to get dry sand/dry rock but am just a little confused on when i should start curing the rock or if i even need to? Should i wait until everything is set up and just do the cure/cylce in the display tank or is there a benefit to start curing the rock in a large container before starting the cycle in the display tank?

The benefit to curing the rock outside of the display system first is the resultant nitrate and phosphate won't be in in your display to fuel pest algae growth.

One can wash/soak with muratic acid outside the tank prior to cycling to help remove left over nasties to lower N and P in the rock. Wear protective gear for safety, I cycled mine in the main display not that I really matters.

One can add bacteria or live rock from an established tank, also increase the water temp to speed up bacteria during cycling. No lights needed.
