About to toss about 200 lbs of dry rock into a big old Brute to cure just in case I ever break down my current tank and start over.
Always good to have phosphate free rock laying around right?
I've never actually cured rock before though...
I have dosed Lanthanum Chloride in my display with success.
I'm just wondering if I should use tap, RO, or RODI when curing dry rock in a trash can?
I'm not trying to cycle it either. My only goal is to remove phosphates completely.
I plan on doing a water change after each dose of lanthanum chloride.
I suspect I would only need a pump to keep the water moving for maximum LaCl contact?
Lastly, I know that the process is dependent on how much phosphates the rock leeches, but about how long does this process usually take?
I'm just curious so that I know where to place this trash can if its long term, +3 months
Thanks!
