Hi Everyone,

I'm pretty new to reefing and am hoping to get some guidance one proper light settings. I recently upgraded from a Chinese black box LED to the Current USA Orbit Marine and I noticed that more corals have really stopped growing all that much. Does anyone else have this light and could recommend settings?

Set up and Params
Tank= Fiji Cube 20g AIO
Tank Dimensions= 23.62"L x 14.96"W x 12.99"H
Light Height= ~14in from the sand
Calcium= 520ppm
kH= 179ppm
Phosphate= .5ppm
Nitrate= 10ppm (I am doing a water change today. I've been trying to keep my nitrates closer to 3.0ppm-5.0ppm because I was inadvertently starving my cheato)
Salinity= 1.027ppm

Corals
Zoas
mushrooms
Hammers
Blasto
Montipora

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

This is what I have and it’s working for me may have to adjust to your liking.

I was reading in another thread that too much red and green cause algea growth. I just bought the Current Dual IC Pro 60" and was working to dial my light in as well.
I can say that I noticed a significant increase in brown and green algea growth on my power heads and top areas of my glass with the red and green lights on for the daytime settings. I have turned those colors off now and plan to level set to see if it comes back. I had never had an issue with this before using the old Current light until setting up the new IC Dual Pro lights.

Sadly, (I hate being the "Debbie downer") but the only coral that is going to benefit from your Current USA lights is the mushrooms. I ran current USA doubles on a 60 gal long a couple of years ago and they barely hit 50 par at sandbed with light 4"s off water. Your other corals are going to struggle to survive with those lights. (again sorry to say)

Current USA Orbits are more of an entry level light for softies.

I second Mical's quote. Also had a pro version in the past and unfortunately the best settings for Current USA Marine Orbits are not having them at all. I know that doesn't help you but there will be very slow growth on soft corals and maybe LPS if any growth at all.

I have the current USA IC loop 2 sets on a 34gallon cube. Softies and a duncan and a hammer. All are doing really good, great growth all around. That being said, it's only a 20x20x20 tank. don't know how good it would be for anything bigger or other corals.
My setting are:
Sunrise Colors: RED=74%, GREEN=9%, BLUE=76%, WHITE=0%
Time on:12noon
Daylight: RED=75%, GREEN=29%, BLUE=100%, WHITE=65%
On Time: Begins 90 minutes after sunrise
Sunset: RED=74%, GREEN=9%, BLUE=75%, WHITE=0%
Off Time: 7:30pm
Moonlight: RED=0%, GREEN=0%, BLUE=5%, WHITE=0%
Duration: 6 hours
You can tweak it as you like, turn them on and off at other times. I have it like this so I can enjoy it after I get home from work and before going to bed while still giving the tank somewhat of the lighting it requires. It's been working for me.

Pictures below are from April and June of last year, since then everything has grown. I'll need to take some updated ones.

Thanks Afaylenerich88, I like the lights I love how my tank looks with them.
I just got a red sea max s400 with the T5s I haven't started it yet just been getting equipment together and leak test it. I've heard good things about T5s and I use to have them 20+ years ago on a 120 gal. I know they will work out good but I think I'm going to miss the ramp up and ramp down of the sunrise sunset moods settings. :(
I attach some newer pics of the 34 for all to enjoy. Don't have current videos.

34 gallon your stuff looks great. For a few years I had just one 36” orbit pro on my 40breeder reef and everything grew great even got sebea anemones to come out of bleaching. Just recently bought a 36” loop light to go with older model. I have had a heck of a time trying to get the timing to work correctly on it.. Did you ever run into any issues getting the sunrise, daylight, sunset, moon light to work?

Does anyone know what the moonlight "all" setting does? Right now I have the moonlight time set to the max of 6 hours which means part of the "night" cycle the lights are completely off. I'd like to be able to have a full 24 hour cycle where I can have the moonlight going until sunrise. I don't know if moonlight "all" means there will be no sunrise/daylight/sunset going on which wouldn't be good.

Hi I adopted a tank with the Loop Marine lite model 5021. Is that the same one your using? I think my corals are struggling. I just bought and added to the tank. The pet store is trying to sell me $499 lights. Awesome corals by the way thanks for posting!
