If that was a newly acquired green chromis, I’d say it is Uronema….but it’s a fire fish and not new, so I’m pretty confident you can rule that out. So that leaves an injury, but I’m neutered how that could have happened. You don’t have a mantis or pistol shrimp in the tank do you?
It doesn’t look infected, as long as it’s still eating good, I don’t think you need to do anything.

Yeah its a likely a pistol shrimp being a jerk. He hunted down an emerald. I will do a few more smaller feedings daily to make sure its not a food issue. Whats the signs of a next step? Fuzzy white stuff is what I hear but I will monitor it over the next few days. Thanks for easing my mind!

Fuzzy white material (Saprolegnea) is seen in FW fish, but that doesn't grow on marine fish - look for increasing lesion size, redness and any other change in the fish's behavior.
