Been out of reefing for about a year.
Tank is about 12 days old, is this cyano or coralline? It blows off the rocks and sand bed with ease. So I'm guessing cyano?

Its red slime algae, similar to cyano as it too is a bacteria but is closer in behavior to diatoms. With a 12 days tank, your nitrates and phosphates should not be elevated enough to create cyano unless you are using tap water or similar.

I started out with tap water and use distilled water to do top offs.
I cycled the tank with Fritz turbostart dead shrimp and live sand with a old sponge filter (then took it out for the intake basket fluval 13.5) I had from my last tank before I went to BCT. I know my nitrates might be a little high I dont know about my phosphates though. Going to do a water change tomorrow after work.
Have a KessilA80, no controller though. I don't leave it on for that long 4hrs maybe. No point of leaving it on for long if the only thing thats in there is GSP
