Did a 50% water change. First nitrite test ran normally after water change is identical to the test I ran early this morning - side by side, still purple or ~2-5 ppm. Then I ran a diluted test, 4ml rodi, 1ml tank water. Came out at .50 so looks like I'm around 2.5 pmm nitrite. Going to close the book there and I'll continue to monitor as I add some livestock. Really bizarre that after this amount of time there's still nitrite.

Well if you don't like the crazy swings in nitrites . Get your tank set up run for a couple days put in fish. That is old school no chemicals . I have heard non stop dr. Tims and ammonia give false readings on nitrites . Not telling you what to do but . Water change , water change ,water change.

Thanks, I’ve had a few fish in QT for the past month, added 2 clowns Wednesday and on Thursday the nitrites were 0. Go figure.
