I’ve had this flameback for about three months in my tank, he did go through a 1.5 month quarantine before I put him into my tank, but I noticed today he has a white blemish on his side. I’m sure it’s not ich or velvet, my guess is a loose scale but can it be a fluke? He’s still eating and moving well but I just can’t make out what this could be. Any and all help is appreciated! @Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081

It does look like just a damaged scale, but then again, that's what flukes do! However, it is REALLY unusual for a fish to have a single large fluke on it, you would normally see a number of these lesions, also cloudy eyes and perhaps eroded fins.

What was the fish treated with during quarantine?

So - I wouldn't think flukes then. Just keep an eye on it of course. Any fish in with it that could have tagged it?

jay
All the other fish have been in for about a year other than the yellow tang. The yellow tang I got free from a fellow reefer who got outbid the hobby. He’s had the tang for 5 years though so I would think he’s ok?

I agree with jay with a damaged scale from a nick or similar. I have a coral beauty angel right now with identical and seen it happen when he got startled Monday when I entered my algae magnets into the tank

@Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081 Thank you for the help, also this is random but one more thing. My yellow tang kind of goes after my cleaner shrimp, the shrimp keeps retreating and even had part of his antennae nipped off. Unusual?
Unusual- Yes
Add a sheet or nori seaweed within rocks to divert its attention and keep it busy

I feed noir everyday but it’s only once and every now and then it chases the cleaner shrimp. Also doesn’t the cleaner shrimp kind of pick off dead scales from fish?
Not always. they eat dead skin and even debris within the gills. Also surface worms and flukes but again, not always.

When is the last time you purchased cleanup crew critters?
