Been a bit since I’ve posted. Moved away from GFO to lanthanum chloride. It’s much cheaper and no more gfo caused phosphate swings. Took about a week to dial in. I was worried about moving to a chemical solution, and spent a year reading about. It was much smoother and easier than expected, I only wish I did it sooner.

I’ve built a new drain manifold for the frag tanks using 2” PVC and will be replacing the individual drains. I can’t wait to get rid of that mess of drains. At the same time a new frag tank is going to go up.

Pics coming soon....

Holding tank is up! After I redo the display layout, the new drain goes in.

With the algae scrubber offline to rebuild the frag system drain (which I still haven’t done), I turned a small section of the presump into a refugium. It’s pretty small, and I used lights I already had around. Here it is back at the end of Feb when my buddy first gave me the macros, the last pic from this week.

Thanks! I need to get current pics up. A dehumidifier handles the humidity. In the winter stays prey warm because of the lights, but the heaters do come on. In the summer I’ve been leaving the door open to the house. One of these days I’m going to put a mini split on it so I can lose the dehumidifier.
