On the tail of my fire fish there are these dark spots. They weren’t there yesterday but they were there when I checked on him this afternoon. Fish is acting normal from what I can tell but what could these spots be or what could cause them?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Take a look at the sticky note second from the the top of this section. It lists some helpful hints for additional information that we find helpful in diagnosing fish disease problems. Mostly, these give added information about the history of the problem. Try to answer as many of those as you can.

That said, a few black spots on a fish, with no other symptoms, are typically not evidence of systemic diseases that will cause major problems in your aquarium.

Could be uronema.

Probably not - Uronema always shows as white or red lesions, not black like this.
