Your tank was cycled the very instant it was set up. Facts:

it has as many bacteria on day 1 vs day 30000 on the rock because thats real tank cured live rock

the rock is rare, where did you get it.

anywhere benthic creatures exist, worms and attached sponges and fanworms and coralline etc, we know the rock is already cycled. It’s impossible to have those attachments on uncycled rock.

nice job on your skip cycle reef :)

If your kit says theres some nitrite or free ammonia, that’s what it says for thousands of post cycle reefs. It’s all in the pics....the proof

if the tests say ammonia is zero and nitrite is zero, that would be the rare reading. We expect .25 api ammonia in any reef tested ever for the next four decades, and they’ll all read positive nitrite too using api.

what’s accurate is the clean water, typical animal behavior vs being dead from being in an uncycled reef

The rocks showed up with the max bacteria they are designed to carry.

My main hope is that nobody from the pet store let you buy bottled bac for this setup, or tried to sell you any.

The pet store did indeed sell me AquaVitro seed. I’ve dosed it twice now.
sounds like I don’t need it.
ok quick rundown:

saltwater (26 gallons) from PetStore
20# Carob Sea Arag-Alive reef sand
22# Live Rock
8 days running. Various little stars, bristle worms, even a mushrooms appeared day 2-5

Petstore advised adding some fish food (tiny pellets) to accelerate ammonia then nitrite nitrate etc.
kinda confused. Apparently I’m cycled?
Thx so much for your post!

this thread does not ascribe to benthic cuing. But if they choose to, then the extra cost rock they paid for can be enjoyed.

Transferring live rock among aquariums never has dieoff, and all the readings for false stuck ammonia are as predictable as the sunrise. Our hobby has no current permission in cycling for skipping it. Even though marine aquarium conventions have done it thirty years, we stroll on through the rows of full blown reefs not really concerning how they keep getting there ready, on time, to sell to us.

Chandavi

may we please have a tank update, this is to help people understand that skip cycle tanks don’t expire.

did your tank continue to run after we deemed it instantly cycled two years ago

How long total has this been running
