Hello guys. I am starting the same process quarantine again but this time with a powder tang. These guys are known for their weakness and very susceptible to ick. Is there anything i should pay attention to? I did 30 drops of cupramin on a 120l tank and increasing.

I would definitely prophylactically treat for ich with one of those. Run copper for 1 month.

I would also treat for flukes. While not KNOWN for this, every single powder blue we have gotten at the store has been riddled with flukes. just say'n.

You are having a store? How do you get to quarantine multiple tangs?

I dont have a store... I work at one. We arn't set up to QT any fish at the store. I am only able to treat a few fish at a time as needed. If your wanting to QT multiple tangs at home, just make sure you have a large enough tank and filter to accommodate them and their bio load. :)

Hello. This time i am quarantining new batch. A powder, a copperband, and a yellow tang. I just added them in today and tried to feed them with some nori. The powder seems interested and nipping however looks like it is spitting right out. The yellow and the copperband looks calm. I just added 60 drops of copper. The tank is 170 liters. Do you have experience with acclimating this trio?

The tangs may harass the CBB, so watch out for that. Also, has the CBB eaten yet? They can be finicky and you may have to try a bunch of different meaty foods. I'm also not sure how well a CBB will do in copper. Last time I QT'd one in copper was 20+ years ago in Coppersafe when I worked for a maintenance business.

When I used cupramine, I used a seachem test kit and saliferts. The saliferts was waaaaay off. Saliferts would have made me overdose copper... Just sayin, I only trust seachems copper test kit.

I have treated a number of CBB with Copper. They seem to either e swimming in circles in 12 hours or to handle it no problem. Seems to have a lot of to do with how well they were eating before beginning.

gotta be something, what's your salinity, are you drip acclimating them before, what's your PH, what kind of water are you using, tap?

at this point please stop buying fish before you start your own "nemo" auschwitz death camp.

edit: oops commented on older thread though the questions are still valid I suppose. Jesus really old and 9 pages of death. ... I must be tired.

Could be the start of HLLE on the YT's face.

Head & Lateral Line Erosion "HLLE":

Symptoms - HLLE literally looks as though the skin is rotting or peeling off the fish. Affected areas usually include the face and lateral line, and may be white in color.

Treatment options - This is more of a condition than an actual disease. Since no one can agree on the exact cause, all you can do is address all of the following theories regarding HLLE:

1) Stray voltage - Use a titanium ground probe & test your tank for stray voltage.
2) Running carbon - Don’t use it, or use only premium grade carbon.
3) Nutritional deficiency - Feed high quality nutritional foods. Some have had success reversing the effects of HLLE by soaking food in “fish vitamins” and also feeding nori.
