Well here was my 120 DT the first week in September:

Then Hurricane Irma hit and after a week without power I lost everything.

Well rather then just reboot it I decided it was time to build a new tank and remove all the things I didn’t like about this one.

At first I was just going to keep my stand that I had built and change everything else. But after finding termites in the stand and canopy I couldn’t trust it and the whole thing had to go.

Well since I don’t have room to go longer I decided to keep the same dimensions but go a little taller with a 24x48x30 high and Marineland 150 gallon tall.

Well I decided to go with pukani and Tonga dry rock

Not only Tonga branching but also flat pieces

The pickling process was started the end of September.

The rock should be ready by thanksgiving.

I tested it last week ammonia was zero but there was some phosphorus so I started gfo to try to remove it.

A pair of MP40WQD’s for flow

Trigger systems sapphire 34 sump an 10 gallon ATO tank

Caribe special grade Reef sand, 80 lbs

Picked up the wood for the stand

And cut all the pieces for fabrication

Frames built, I used pocket screws on the bottom 1x4’s in order to make the area a little deeper for water spills

Assembled

Pocket screws also at the Control end to give as much clearance as possible

Topped out and interior panels in place and caulked, ready to skin

Also picked up the canopy and trim wood

I’m sorry to hear about your misfortune with the loss of your tank. There is a silver lining, as the new build looks great so far. Following along!

So I pocket screwed the canopy sides together.

Assembled the pieces

Verified All would work

Also received the sheet of 1/4” abs for the bottom of the tank. Last tank I used egg crate and found it accumulated a lot of detritus that my cleanup crew couldn’t get to.

Installed the supports for my AI Hydra 52’s, I made them removable so I could pull the frame if necessary
