So I have an Aqueon 150g tank with three AI Hydra 32 HD lights. I suspected when my tank was setup by the LFS that the lighting wasn't right and they didn't bring their PAR the day they did the setup. Anyway I ended up getting the Apex PAR kit and found my lighting PAR was very low. My light were originally mounted 13" from the water surface. After increasing the blues (Violet, UV, Royal Blue, Blue) over 100% I still wasn't achieving the optimal PAR at various levels through the tank. I started lowering the lights. Currently they are 8 inches from the water and at the top rock (12-14 inches below the water surface) I get a PAR straight under the light of around 240. Anyone else with a similar deep tank setup that can provide some input on their lighting situation? Should I have my lights that close to the water? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
