Hi Adam
Im looking at the SCA1351 vs the SC1351 for my Red Sea Reefer 350. I noticed the SCA1351 is currently on sale. Do you have any preference between the 2 skimmers? Is the dc version worth the extra money?

thanks
Mario

Hey Mario,

Thanks a lot for the post! I am actually partial to the AC line myself. For me its just a simpler mechanism A pump and a plug, vs a pump, transformer, controller, etc. However performance is virtually the same, and the choice really comes down to a matter of preference. On smaller systems it can be an advantage to dial back the DC pump a little, but other than that I can't say one is better than the other for any reason.

I have been alternating sale pricing from the AC to DC models , and will gladly honor the sale price for whichever model you choose. Please let me know if you have any other questions at all.

Thanks again!

I can vouch for whatever Adam said .
Unless you are going for a tank below 75 gallons total , don't see a reason why to dial down the skimmer .
The ac and D.C. versions work exactly similar with regards to performance.
But whatever you choose in Deltec line , you won't regret it .. if at all , you would regret that it keeps nitrates so low that you might have to resort to nitrate dosing :D

Regards,
Abhishek

Thanks for the quick responses.
Im assuming the 1351 is large enough to handle an eventually heavily stocked 70 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump? Im leaning towards the ac version.

Hope Adam doesn't mind me answering it but yes, easily it will handle 90 gallons. Thats what I have in my 85 gallon tank .
If you are unsure and have crazy high load, you can look into 1456 or 1455 which are even more spectacular ...

Abhishek

Hey thanks for chiming in Abhishek! Really appreciate that, and couldn't have said it better myself. at 90-100 gallons total the 1351 is a near perfect fit and will satisfy all the skimming needs for as long as you need it to do so for sure:)

I have a tc2060 and I LOVE it
I have been contemplating purchasing a stair motor for it. Can you give me a price on a replacement? And if you offer a dc pump can you price me on that also
Thanks

Adam,
I purchased the 1351 DC version from you a few months back. I finally finish my cabinet build and fired up the system last night. I'm starting the pursuit of the perfect skimmer setting. :)

What is your recommendation for water height in the sump, setting on the DC controller and water height inside the skimmer? If there is already a Deltec skimmer setup thread feel free to point me in that direction.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi there, thanks a lot for the post!

Id go with the SC1455. he'd be a little bit larger than you need, but it would be a better fit than the SCA1351 for sure on heavy stocked 105 for sure. Happy to answer any other question you may have any time.

Do you still carry the Deltecs? I need to grab a skimmer for the 150g I'm setting up; figured I'd go with the 1455 unless you think the 1660 is a better option.
