90 gallon build

Hello I just joined the forum after getting my first zoos. So far I like the forum a lot. Thought I would introduce my 90 gallon tank build.

Equipment list
90 gallon tank 60"x18"x20"
Tek 4 54w T5HO (Blue+,Midday,Actinic,Blue+)
Iwaki wmd 40rlxt pump (replacing it with a panworld)
Reef Octopus NW-200 Skimmer
55 Custom built tank/refugium

I chose to build my tank in a wall that divided the kitchen, family, dining, and living room. The tank is and island design which is viewable from all sides.I have three holes in the middle. One for a 2" overflow stand pipe and the others for returns. I Just finished setting up my tank so now its pretty bare and desolate.

Heres the wall which i knocked down.

Heres the tank with only the stand.

Here are some holes i did on the floor to route my plumbing under the ground and up the roof coming out outside. Plumbing is to do water changes from outside.

Here is some of the stand exterior frames, (made of mahogany)

Its going to be a mixed reef with mainly zoos, mushrooms, and some softies, dont know if i can keep sps with light but ill see. As for fish im planning on having a school of chromis (5-6), a powderblue tang (maybe), a yellow tang and I really would like to have a flame hawkfish.

Thanks for feedback

no its a tek retro. The good thing is my tank is shallow only 20" so it might work.

Looking good. Love frameless tanks if its going to stay that way. You maybe framing that in more. The mohagany (sp) is my favorite type of wood! Nice work!

The tank is going to have a canopy as well. The wood frame on the roof is going to be covered in dry wall. Then the area from the top of the tank to the drywall theres going to be a canopy made out of mahogany.

Yes the tank has a massive brace in the middle. About 1" or 3/4" thick and about a foot long.

I started the tank with this idea in mind. The rockwork changed for praticality reasons ( very hard to sculpt around the plumbing, I actually used a grinder to cut). The cabinet is going to look somewhat like the paint drawing.

Ecotoxlady was asking me about the plumbing so ill tell you guys too. Basically i have two pipes that run from the side of my house to the tank. The pipe go through the floor up the wall and outside through the roof. One of the pipes is for discarding water. The same return pipe for the tank is used to pump this water outside. The way it works is that i have the return line teed off into the pipe that goes outside. When i close a ball valve on the return line and open the ball valve for the other pipe the water is pumped outside. The other pipe is for water entering, This just has a pump outside that pumps the water to my tank.

No the tank was laying around the house for a couple years. I had the tank drilled on one side in the middle 1 for 2" pipe for overflow and the other 2 1" for return.
