Do you have any close shots?
I'll take some when I get home from work for you. The "indo gold" I can get a very good pic of as its in a good spot for pics, the grail is a bit further back and I gotta zoom in so it will be distorted a bit. I'll use an orange filter lense too as it seems to capture the natural color under the blues the best.

Yeah and candy coral had a sale on the holy grail for 529.99 as well. They sold out fast though and only had the reverse one. I usually like buying from other local reefers because I found a lot of them take such good care of their tanks and have a better selection than my lfs usually. I would be careful for now though if you come across it. I'll let you know if it turns out good though. Candy corals has a far superior selection for rarer coral compared to fragbox. You'll see though this guy is all over Kijiji and is one of the top searches on Google for coral for sale in the GTA. Fingers crossed.
Ok thanks for the heads up. Ya candy corals always has amazing stuff the few times I’ve been in there. Haven’t been to FragBox yet but did one order online and everything was as pictured and good packing so I’m happy with that. I always want to go but then I remember shipping is only $30 and that’s a cheap price to pay not have to deal with Toronto traffic.

Yeah man, fragbox is awesome and I've never had an issue with any orders. Thank God I don't deal with the 401 and dvp traffic anymore :). Good luck out there though. Some guy told me I should be more experienced at buying coral lol. I've bought many online before and never had this issue. It's like if I order tims coffee pods and they send me Starbucks. Im inexperienced apparently. So it's my fault for thinking it would look like the advertised picture.

I have no idea how he exactly knew where I got it from. I mentioned nothing of where I got it from and he was bang on. I'm still not sure though the coral could bounce back to what I thought I was getting though, from other people's input. I'm desperately hoping it is the same ones though that I got. I didn't wanna ruin anyone's reputation by name though until I was certain. It just looked much different and was hoping for some input lol.
Easy enough to do a search on the sales pic, that would give the website it came from.

I wouldn't have thought of that but yeah that makes sense. Just want to confirm that I'm not slandering this guy. I just wanted to confirm with others if they have had the same experience with other corals having lost that much color. Some have and that gives me hope :).

Asking questions is not slander.
You have ever right to do that…but please especially when going to pick a coral up I want want to see it being pulled out of the tank with the sellers arm dripping wet!

Fingers crossed for ya and sending you best wishes. Fwiw, my grail and master torch from A reef creation came in over night, shipped, and the color was as vibrant and identical as ever. The color on these torches is very, very significant and very bright. I had no doubts whatsoever, even in full daylights (Radion g5's and t5ho's)

Yes I asked Ofcourse. But with some people that are scared and are quarantined hardcore, which that's what his reason was. and hey I understand and respect that. He was just so nice and when I saw the color on it (a bit of gold a dark green) he assured me it was just a bit stressed and would come back aftee

I've only had this experience as well with everything else. Thanks so much :). May your grail grow large and split lots :).

Yeah I'm gonna give it another week. It was my Christmas gift to myself and I was saving a long time to get these specific corals.
Awwhhh man well hang in their dude I have had torch corals throw a tantrum on me after they get shipped in from other states. Just last week I got a gold torch and a indo neon green pink tip and it took a few days for the neon green indo to really show me what he actually looks like in person he wasn’t too dull color wise he just didn’t fully extend for a few days. Your parameters are good so I’d say that they should start looking pretty good for ya soon! Hang in their

Never heard of a torch loosing it's color. SPS, sure, but not LPS.
Definitely possible. Stress can cause mild bleaching like most things but coloration under the wide spectrum of acceptable reef tank conditions can/will cause some dramatic color change. Given the same water conditions a torch under 20k spectrum at 150 par will have noticeable color differences than one under 20k at 250 par. However that takes a little time for the differences to appear. Lighting is fairly cut a dry with par and spectrum to get desired results if chemistry is order… the real can of worms is the effect of nutrients, trace element availability, and nutrition to coincide with PAR differences! o_O

Top down versus side shots make a good difference with torches too, but judging from the sales pics compared to the OP’s pics I wouldn’t be very happy with the torches either. Color change (*not bleaching) due to parameters would take much longer than a couple days or a long car ride home.

I'll take another when I get home , but the pictures I took were already with an orange filter, this is a full tank shot, you can see my blue eyed blonde zoas are showing a half decent yellow. And my kryptonite torch is that nice green and the tube anemone is almost exactly what it looks like by eye. The torch in the second pic does look a little better than in this pic but it's pretty close. I'll try to get some top down as well of the grail after as well. A tough spot when the light reflection is hard to get. The indo I'll get another good close up as well. I always use an orange filter though. I'm hoping it's looking better by the time I get home.

This exactly. I mean they are still nice torches, I wouldn't have paid that much for the dullness, but I didn't think it could have color loss that extreme for such a small amount of time. A guy fragged my kryptonite torch and the next day I took it home and it lost no color and it was stressed to the max. If it is the same ones it seems that they were possibly already stressed for a long time. And I've noticed with my other torches that when the polyps were shorter it in fact made the color more amazing and intense.

Exactly the zoaxanthelle :). Until last year I pronounced the x in it haha. And also didn't realize for like 6 months after starting my first coral tank what wysiwyg was on all the websites selling coral . I kept reading it on sites and pronouncing it as one word and was wondering why there were so many of this type lol. Now I named one of my clowns wissy wig. Gotta laugh how stupid I am sometimes.

You’ll never get those colours through the glass. Not with your eyes, not with a camera. Top down, and definitely pushing the spectrum of what is acceptable photochopery these days. You can tweak out your lights to reproduce but has to be top down, with a filter, and some adjustments. The original photos everything is blue, and clipping the ranges it’s like a black light poster. You got some nice torches but def fell victim to r2r hype (the only merit of the old forum is this stuff was frowned upon where here it’s accepted). Relabeling brown corals gold with manipulating top down photos.. ooof. Don’t get me wrong I’ve got some nice brown Er I mean gold frogspawn they sure do look better in the photos then reality.

either way I wouldn’t say you got ripped off unless you were expecting multiple heads.

Here we go. These are just now with an orange filter. Hard to get the "grail" with the light reflection though. I did notice a small fraction of green towards the mouth so I dunno. But no green swirling to the mouth on the other one.
