Try feeding flake n frozen more. I feed my tank 8x a days on pellet and 2x on flake. U can turn down your skimmer just to make bubble and don't skim. It's better to add nutrients natural than dosing.

Has anyone else noticed this yearly cycle to their dino issues?
A difference of light (my tank gets a good bit of sunlight) and a few degrees of water temp does seem to cause some changes in algae of my system. But it might also be CO2 differences based on heat/AC, or differences in my habits by season.

Does anyone have the AQUA ULTRAVIOLET 25 Watt UV Sterilizer?

All it says is that it's rated for 400GPH.

What should I run it at for Dinos?

I replaced all my dry pukani rock with live rock and the dinos seem to have gone away. I am beginning to think one of the major causes of Dinos is starting with dry rock. I been running my tank for over 6 months with dry pukani and never did get coralline to grow.

Again, I am not a Zeo user, but I must encourage you to investigate and confirm that PO4=0 is desirable under this method. Hopefully, @ycnibrc can chime in on this. Check out his staghorn tank using zeo. It is amazing.
Zeovit nutrients is low however they ask u to dose a lot. It's a balance system. Between the bacteria, corals and skimmer your tank have a strong nutrients export however dosing ,feeding, fish waste and other waste u are adding back to the system.

Thank you, @ycnibrc . Great to hear from those who successfully run great sps tanks in this thread. we get a lot more of the flip-side.
The highest concentration of dinos I've ever seen in a tank was a zeo system. But it's totally possible that hobbyist was doing many things wrong. There are plenty of zeo systems that don't have dino issues.

Try feeding flake n frozen more. I feed my tank 8x a days on pellet and 2x on flake.
Just wanted to highlight this, because I think many people see recommendations for a certain low PO4 / NO3 number and totally misunderstand the nutrient flows in the most successful sps tanks.

As mentioned above, Zeo allows you to put a lot in, and pull a lot out.
There's a lot of situations where water nutrient numbers tell a misleading and incomplete story. This is a good example.

less, typically than manufacturer rec. 200-300 gph is a number I've seen a lot of people point to as successful.

There's a strong correlation across many hobbyists and a good bit of evidence provided in this article by aquabiomics

See post #8811 for sizing and flows. Aqua UV is good and the brand I use.

It is a good UV. As mentioned, I run slower too... roughly 300gph. You can run even slower, just not so slow that the bulb overheats. Feel the temp of the water coming out. If noticeably warmer, then speed it up.

During my light cycle that tank gets a little warm if I leave the lamp on, so I eventually ran it off a controller. Pretty much just runs at night. If you do this, make sure the pump runs a little longer after the lamp to cool it.

Zeovit tank often have some type of cyano or dino appears once in awhile due to the nature of ulns. When ever I'm lacking of dosing or feeding they will appear but not over taking the tank. A little red cyano on the sand is normal since the sand bed has low flow which detritus can accumulated. Just keep up with feeding variety of food pellet, flake , frozen and feed more. My 360g tank has 80 fishes big and small and I feed them 10x a day to keep my phosphate at 0.08 and nitrate at 5ppm.

I've noticed that trend in great SPS tanks too. A lot of fish that like to eat all day - constant metabolism of nutrients excreted.

My goal is to replicate my tank to natural reef that's why I chose zeovit. Beside stable parameters aka Cal, alk and mag we need to focus on stable nutrients also. In the reef nutrients are constantly produce by fish and the Coral feed all day not just at night. All my dosing regarding to Coral food are spreading through out the day.

And plenty of cases of dry rock with no issues at all. Our 75g never had a dino issue. Our 150g that used at least half the rock from that 75g, did. Of the seven tanks I've started in the past 25 years (or so, I dont exactly remember when I got the first tank now), only the 150g had a problem with dinos. It was also the tank I moved the fastest with (money wasnt a huge limiting factor like it was on the earlier tanks). Wish I knew the answer.
