Here's a FTS on Day 4 (24 hours after 3rd dose) - not much visible difference:

Here's a FTS after scrubbing and cleaning:

It usually does not stay this clean overnight after I clean and scrub it.
I'll post another update tonight (24 hours after cleaning) to see how much comes back.

Wow... I looking very much forward to starting this this weekend. I will post updates. Lost my last 2 snails. Total loss of 15 snails and 2 fire shrimps. Have only hermits left. Glass is Turing brown from no clean up crew.
I feel your pain we lost quite a few coral before I found a plan of action.
There are still a few that are hanging on like my Duncan but he isn't looking good. My daughter is upset as she is the frager and seller of these corals.
We almost tore it down but I am no quitter!

Well we thank you for taking on these common issues we all suffer from. [emoji41]

Come on members I know there is more out there dealing with this!
Let's get some samples in and post up information as I believe this will be a successful treatment :)

Here's ~24 hours after scrubbing/cleaning:

Some dinos on the sandbed returned or weren't filtered out, but definitely not as much as normally would return after a scrubbing/cleaning.

I just cleaned the rocks and sandbed again using a turkey baster. Cleared everything up right away. Hopefully a few more days of this will get all the remaining visible dinos.

I will remind you buddy!
How long have you had it in the tank? Is it the thin strand look or the clumps?
Both, it has strands that reach up but most of it is just thick and covers everything. I've been fighting it for a couple years honestly, gets tolerable or I turn lights off for a few days at a time and it is OK for a week or so until it becomes unbearable again. I've tried peroxide by the gallons a year ago. Helped but eventually was ineffective. I've changed all water and tried complete blackouts which were very effective for longer but it always came back.

I use a glass jar with locking lid, fill it with some tank water, add the metro and vigorously shake for around 90 sec. It doesn't all dissolve. This is what it looked like in the jar after shaking:

This is how the DT looked after adding it to the sump (but this only lasted a few minutes):

Yes this is correct
Even in my lab I can not get it all to dissolve.
I just poured it in ;)

Sent my sample to Twilliard and he's not 100% sure but we think it is a protozoan type algae or parasite.

The green areas are showing cell division.

I decided to give Dr. Tims Waste-away a shot since it does have a snotty sludgy appearance.

20160620_193501.jpg

I started with the recommended half dosage for my tank which was 15ml. Lights were turned off. Day 2 with lights off I did the recommended full dosage of 30ml. After day two I have experienced the "white cloud" stated on the bottle.

No visible change so far. In fact, nothing appears to have change other than slowed growth, most likely due to lights being off.

Next step is wait for the white cloud to disappear and begin MetroPlex treatment. Not sure if I should do lights out with it?

It is 125mg per 10 gallons
I dosed it for 3 days straight with no water changes in between.

Hi! Thank you for coming in!
I would not worry about lights out as this is a miss conception by many.
They have more than one method for producing energy, taking the light away just forces them to find another source for survival.
The metronidazole may work as I believe you have a large population of Protozoa
The cells you have are small and unknown so my fingers are crossed for you!
