The key: keep your PO4 and NO3 above 0. (PO4 ~0.05 / NO3 ~10-20)

When i learned this i got rid of them within a couple of weeks. No blackouts, no peroxide. Just keep those 2 parameters above zero (and remove as much dino's manually).

Thanks. Will stay on top of the dosing to keep them up.

Yes- siphon and then:
You really want at least 5-7 days blackout.
Add 1.5ml of liquid bacteria during day next 5 days
Add 1 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide at night
Clean filters daily
Empty skimmer daily
Sounds good.
I read some concerns about liquid bacteria reducing phosphate levels. Is that a concern or just up dosing of Neophos to compensate?

I have also had success blanketing the tank at "Sundown" each night after the initial 2 day blackout. Unless your home is very dark at night ambient light seems to also keep them on the sandbed.

I wish I could do a longer blackout but my yellows would rip each other apart

I picked up the Aqua UV 15 watt hang on unit. A bit oversized for 40 gallons but price was right. I have small 200 gph pump in the tank connected directly to the UV that dumps right back into the tank.
It's not oversized for dinos....only slightly larger than recommended. Your flow rate is also too high for dinos. I know it's not what the instructions with the UV say but the rate needs to be slower (like 80-120 gph) with Ostreopsis. I would still recommend getting a microscopic ID. It's a good investment in your tank.
