Hey everyone. My dad and I are big into the reefing hobby and have started making our own sumps. This is our 3rd one built. First one this big. My father is the brains behind it all. This sump is 5 foot long by 15" tall by 15" wide to fit under my tank. It is made out of 3/8" acrylic. We buy scraps here and there but on this one, we bought a full sheet for $275. Very thick and stout. Also, we were wondering, were we cost effective on this? What would this be worth to someone. Id say we're around $350 invested.
Hope ya like it!

Looks nice so far. I'm just getting started building my own as well. Mine is all from scrap on hand. I'm trying to preserve the budget, so trying to make do with what I have. $275 for a sheet of 3/8 (assuming cast) is a good price. My local shop wants $365+tax for the same.

Looks very nice! I often build my own acrylic parts (sumps, overflows, etc). I’m not sure if it really saves a whole lot of money (because individual sheets of acrylic can be expensive), but I do absolutely enjoy the experience. Plus you can make it exactly the way you want.

That is a beauty! I think you are doing very well for a 5' sump at $350. VERY well!
Want to make one for me? I'm kicking around replacing mine - only 3'. We're neighbors... no shipping required.

That is highway robbery. I pay $138 for a sheet of 1/4"ish cast PMACS and a 3/8"ish sheet is right around $210.
