So I bought a new Red Sea reefer 170 a few months ago and I haven’t set it up yet. I am trying to decide on how to create a refugium in my sump and what set up I should go with. I have a piece of glass that I had cut to add into the sump to separate it. I just need some help to figure out which way I should silicone it in place.
My first thought was to keep my skimmer to the right side of the tank and have the rest of the space for a refugium. My second idea was to keep the protein skimmer to the left corner and have the refugium on the right side right after the filter socks and what not.
What would you do? I plan on adding at least one dual reactor in the future so I need space for other smaller pumps to work those, hopefully I can fit those somewhere in the return pump chamber or next the protein skimmer if possible. But for my main question, which set up would you go with for the best filtration? Here are some pics of examples. Also there is only about a half inch of space for water to flow over the cut glass I am using to separate the chambers, is that enough? Should I leave space underneath the glass or above it?
