If only there were a product that could work with your existing skimmer to filter the air exiting the skimmer through carbon...

Exactly what got me thinking about this question. I’m wondering if people smell their skimmers. I’ve only ever really smelled mine if it overflowed or when I emptied it.

I actually have smelled mine from time to time in the past. I don't currently run a skimmer, but I do plan on buying one of these devices for an upcoming build. I try to actively avoid situations that would result in reduced support at home for the hobby. A smelly skimmer counts!

Definitely smells when I clean the cup or drain the fluid. But I don’t smell it around the tank. And if I smell it under the cabinet I’m not sure.

Only when I clean it...and I clean it every two or three days (max). It is highly efficient and will remove quite a bit, so proper maintenance is paramount. You will never smell it outside of when it is being cleaned.

I don’t even need to smell it. I walk into my kitchen after a water change and it will stink for a good few hours after. I dread to think what it smells like if I put my nose right up against it…

I never smell the skimmers from my tanks until I take the collection cups off for cleaning.. That is the most foul scent ever!! lol
This. I refuse to go and look for the scent, lol. When I dump the remote skimmate the bathroom is a bit rank for a few.

For whatever reason even my collection cup doesn’t smell. Never understood all the fuss, pretty mellow compared to most pets. Leaving some thawed frozen food out for more than 24 hours is the worst smell my tank generates.
