I use it and remove it every time. After done scrapping I give it a good clean. One of the members on here who is on a break from the hobby used to leave it in the tank on the soft side. A piece of sand became stuck in there and ended up scratching the tank.

Theory is to keep any metals from leaching out. I usually take the Flipper out with its exposed blade. MagFloat stays in. Go figure

I use the tunze magnet cleaner, stays in the tank 24/7. My trochus snails love to hang out on it and clean it, so no need to come out. If not I would probably clean it every month or so.

I have the Tunze Care Magnet Strong, leave it in the tank and my trochus snails do the exact same thing. :)

I remove it and rinse it off every 7-10 days or so. ;)

I had 3 TLF tiny mag cleaners rust, after that I will never leave a magnet cleaner in my tank. Thankfully I keep pico's so I can use a toothbrush :)
I have 3 TLF nano mag also, each lasted only few month, the scrubbing pad came off of the magnet. Any idea how to glue it back safe for reef?

I have 4 tanks and 2 magnet scrappers. So they come out after each scrapping. They also look very good, clean and like new. If I left it in the tank it would eventually be covered with coraline. And I gotta believe the cleaning side of the pad will become covered as well.

I believe they are made to leave in, but I don't.
