Do you need lighting in a refugium if you don't have chaeto?

I have had a terrible outbreak of GHA and finally am resorting to Vibrant dosing. Anyway, I have been unable to keep any Chaeto in my refugium alive since . Do I need to keep the light on my refugium if I don't have Chaeto? I have the biocubes in there, live rocks and I put pods in there. Buy won't those just gravitate to the display tank if there is no light on in the refugium?

The only reason for a light is to grow algae. Thus, if you have no algae, no reason to have a light on. Pods will do just fine in the dark.

I have read several claims that Vibrant kills chaeto, btw.

Of course it does. Vibrant is non discriminatory and will kill macro algae’s as well. That’s what it does, kills algae.

I know about the correlation with Vibrant and Chaeto. But I have tried everything to get rid of the GHA and nothing worked so have been dosing Vibrant now for about 8 months. I'm not sure that is even working as I still have it, though diminished, but that might be due to my daily handpicking it off the rocks. I read and did and do everything on the list that BRS recommended: urchins, clean up crew, lawnmower bennie, scrubbing rocks with peroxide, keeping phosphate zero, raising Mg to 1400. No significant change. Very exhausted.
