They’re such a powerhouse when it comes to captive breeding of angels, I wonder if anyone owns any captive bred angels from them? If so are they usually in better condition / hardier than their wild caught counterparts? Especially want to know for the more touchy species like Majestic, Goldflake, Venustus, Multibar and Colin’s Angels. Please share your experiences. And they have also successfully bred the Golden Angel recently.

Their Tigerpyges look great too. In China I can get the Tigerpyges, Smokey Lemonpeel (Lemonpeel x Half Black), Venustus, Colin’s, Goldflake and Majestic.

How’s the quality of their captive bred angelfish?

Are they usually feeding well on prepared foods, even the harder species?

Are the CB angels any better with corals?
IMO Tigerpyge looks the best out of the hybrids but the more Lemonpeel leaning Flavissimus x Vrolikii look good too.

I’ve tried 3 Bali goldflakes from divers den. All 3 came tiny and died within 3 days.

Dang that sucks to hear. Which captive bred angels did you try and how did they die?
Majestic, regal, gold flake

all seemed to nibble on pellets and nori,
After a few weeks seem to stop eating, get things, do the spins and be dead shortly after. Search around on this forum, plenty of people admitting there on there 4th attemp, 3rd attemp. There mandarins were no different, stores would get a bunch and they just die off. Store by me won’t bring in these Bali aqua rich fish anymore, they die randomly like queen anthias do

Same thing happened to my Regal.

Fine for 3 weeks, eating everything, then just dies. Fish was in an acclimating box with 3 baby squarespot anthias. There was no aggression issues what so ever.

I’ll be buying my angels wild, and fully quarantined from the vendor, until these captive breeding programs figure their stuff out.

All my other captive bred fish are doing well.

Another 500 dollar “captive bred” gold flake dead. Did fine for a month or so, today I wake up and it’s in the power head. These fish suck so bad, you couldn’t give me one for $10.

I’ve had a baby regal from biota and it’s been great! It ate super tiny pellets at first then was able to eat larger nls pellets and now she eats everything! Frozen, flakes and pellets. It’s been fine with most lps and shrooms so far.

I have had mine since Sept.. was trying to eat the floor through a glass bowl when I was transferring it over lol... ate immediately out of the bag (xs pellets), eats a variety now.

You have to feed these tiny fish frequently and make sure they are not being out competed.

It is in my refugium for now.. I am sure my flame angel and yellow tang would not be kind. Actually my leopard wrasse is a dick too.

I have a tank set up for it but waiting on the microfauna to come in numbers before the move.

IMO/E … you’re absolutely correct!
But for $10, I’m in!
