I have one green BTA that is always bubbled. I have noticed that it looses the bubbles when the lights go out.

Do you feed it? If so what? How would you describe your flow and lighting? What are your phosphate and nitrate levels? Photo?
I feed it Tetra baby shrimp and reef roids probably 2-3 times a month.
Tank is a im 20 fusion.

Flow is slightly upgraded return pump and a jebao ow-25 at 40% else setting.

Light is viparspectra 165w with blues at 40% and whites at 4%.

Nitrates have always been kinda of high in the 30-40 but finally got them stable to 5-10ppm.

Phosphate has always been low under 0.1 according to salifert test kit.

I'll try and get a picture when the lights go out tonight.

The first few months I got the anemone I didn't feed it but since I started it has doubled is size in about 2-3 months.

I started feeding my 2 more often and they both just recently split. I don't know if it is stress related or nutrition related?

Still no bubbles on any of the anemones I have been feeding. Occasionally one or 2 other one have had bubbles for a day or two. I added two purple rain anemones on 12/8/20. They arrived stressed and bleached a bit, but they attached fairly quickly and have had bubbles since adding them.

Can you share your parameter, please?
Pretty much same as before. The day after I added them about a quarter to half of it was bubbled. Now most if not all of it is bubbled. So I'm not really sure why in my tank they bubble up.

Sorry I did realize you had posted them earlier. I am beguining to think it is lighting. Specifically lots of blue light. I don't run my tank real blue like most people do these days. My lights are closer to 10k most of the day.
I will continue feeding krill a bit longer. Then I think I will try adding more blue light to my tank. I don't think I want to reduce my White's, just more blue.

I don't think lighting or feeding is the issue.
My rainbow BTA stays bubbled up most of the time, but often it is a mixed state of bubblage.... I'd say 75% tentacles are bubbled, while 25% aren't.... Sometimes it's 80% bubbled, other times 95%.... But it definately varies.

Mine has its foot attached at the back of a rock cave, so it is fully able to regulate how much light it's getting.

I don’t think it is light intensity, but color spectrum. Your lights look much bluer then mine are. How would you describe your lighting? 10k, 14k, 20k. I have to check, but I have my whites at close to 100%, while my blues are less.

I snapped that pic last night after my white channel had already turned off for the night and only the blue channel was running. My lights don't ramp, so in order to get any semblance of a ramp, I shut the white channel down and run only blues morning/night.

I run 2 hours blue only channel in the morning, 8 hours both blue and white, then back to 2 hours blue only at night.
blue channel on 12 hours
white channel on 8 hours

So I definitely run blue heavy, so maybe you are right about the spectrum of light....

Thanks for the info. Just a theory based on my observations. I am pretty sure they due not bubble due to ilight ntensity, as the BTAs lower in my tank getting less light are just lighter colored.

Another pic showing some tentacles bubbled while others aren't. This nem had just been fed a few minutes before snapping this pic.

My nems are always bubbly. I'm pretty sure direct feeding has absolutely nothing to do with bubbliness. It is only a temporary feeding response. I have not direct-fed my anemones in 2 years, and they are always bubbly. Now, nutrition and other living conditions, on the other hand are a very complicated topic as they also catch food particles from the tank, absorb amino acids, get affected with the flow, light intensity and duration and so on. My recommendation is Red Sea salt, dose amino acids, have a mature tank and 80% blue 20% white light at least 11 hours of appropriate intensity.
