Can’t wait to see how this comes along! Why don’t instead of finishing The basement, you just make the entire basement the tank?! 12 foot cube kind of thing?!

Little update on the Build. Things ( tank, stand sump(s) ) should start arriving in February , so need to get the fish room completed..

The finished walls are the exterior of my home, the double doors are a walk up to the outside. I had the Floor sealed with a coating from Motor City Floors and Coatings.(https://www.motorcityfloorsandcoatings.com/residential). The Tank stand is being powder coated Blue... similar tot he blue flecks in the floor. The blue tape is tank footprint in the room

The Fish Room will be in the same room as my furnace. I decided to build a little room to segregate my furnace from the aquarium area. I also had to move my whole house HRV to into that space. This room will also serve as storeroom for any humidity sensitive items / electronics. Running Ethernet (Orange Conduit) For control system (more on that later) and cameras…. Mounting the Humidifier in the 2x6 wall and RODI unit going there as well

Lastly, finished the display tank wall rough opening. The tank will sit on a 24’’steel stand the opening sits at 27”. The Top of the tank will sit @ 72” above the floor ( 48” tank height). The opening is at 96” giving me front access to tank. I’ll have a some sort of cabinet door for the front . The tank will be 120” wide and the opening is 114” . This should cover the side corners in front. We plan on installing a drop down screen in front of the tank for movies night! But id rather just watch the fish and corals... gonna take some time .. But its super fun seeing the plans start to come into reality!

Putting a Horizontal Fireplace on the opposing wall to the tank…. Gets installed tomorrow!

Next weekend is Humidifier and ERV installation for ventilation and dehumidification. Not sure if I'm going to put a vapor barrier on the ceiling.. Would love to hear everyones thoughts...

Whole 20Kw House Generator getting installed in a few weeks and adding the dedicated 60A panel to the room. Plan on installing a load balancer prioritizing the tank and my core house functions.. Rarely get power outages , but as soon I say that .... so we decided to pull the trigger on it...

Really nice progress. You may want the make up air intake to drop into you fish room as well so you can keep the ph of the tank up. I use mine to feed my skimmer as the ph would tend to drop from November to March.

I’m adding an ERV (Panasonic FV-04VE1) just to this room. I was planning on mounting it right over the tank. The room is @ 350 square ft.. so I’m hoping to exchange the room pretty efficiently. How often do you have it running?

The make up air intake to your furnace is passive air pulled in when the furnace needs it (ie in use). I have my skimmer pulling air through two 3/8" flexible tubes that lead into the make up air duct. I also have a exhaust fan on a humidity switch set to go on at 50%. I keep my house around 40% through the winter.

Michiganreefers.com has a lot of used equipment and corals for sale. Not much happening on the forums though. I have a coral FS thread under Biggestfish. All the locals have been great I’ve met. Most everything sells fast on there. Plenty of guys looking to trade corals also. Feel free to reach out at anytime. I have over 80 SPS alone.

Love the build. If I could make one suggestion, if you haven't thought of it, install a cat walk around the tank. It will make it much easier to access as opposed to a ladder.

I’m in the AA area. Fish doctors in Ypsilanti or canton is decent. Tropicorum in Romulus is crazy but I find it really hard to buy stuff there. Nothing is labeled, few prices available. I’ve heard that Preuss in lansing is good but I haven’t been there.
