Update, but not about the tank :(

We got our fence put up for our 4 legged children and they are happy and so are we.

After much debate and thought, I am going to use MacroRocks for the aquascape. Took advantage and ordered 155lbs from saltwateraquarium.com with their Memorial Sale they have going on now. Got a bucket of the E-Macro mortar to get this puppy on point.

What better way to pass time while waiting on your new tank than to start on your RockScape. This is not a finalized version of it, but more of a work in progress.

Looking forward to seeing what you do. I always have grand ideas of what I will do and then I realize it’s real work creating something amazing! Ha! I tried the whole acrylic rod idea and didn’t get through one hole because the rock was so hard to drill through.

@revhtree the Rockscape to me is the hardest part of this hobby I think as no rock is the same, and trying to find the perfect rock is almost impossible. And finding the perfect balance of how much rock you use, and how the end result is going to look is challenging.

Me and the misses will have been working on it so its going to be a fusion of her vision and my vision on how the rock work is going to look when its said and done.

This would actually make a great QOTD as I believe many people overlook the importance of the Aquascape and taking the time to make sure it’s right. Why does it need to be right? Well for looks, for water flow, for the fish to name a few. Again I always end up just stacking because I get tired and frustrated. I’ll have to add it this fir next week! :p

Might be true, but I am seeing more and more folks take the time to scape their tanks more seriously within the last past couple of years. Might be because we are seeing more of the Dutch Reefers tanks and how they focus on the scape more than anything else in the tank.

What I will say that by creating your own scape, it ends up being your own piece of Artwork, even thought you are using rocks as the medium.

Got some more done today and ran out of glue. Highest point is about 13-14 inches. And the table it's on is around the same footprint as the tank (table is a bit smaller). Going for a minimalist look, but enough space to add corals.

We were going to hang shiplap on the walls then paint them, but decided not to and just painted the wall.

I was getting ready to type a short story on this post, and decided not to.

So on to the good news. My tank should be getting here in the next 2 weeks after so many months of getting ready for my Dream Build.

I seriously can't wait to to get this build finally going.

My wife, and I want to give @Waterbox Aquariums many thanks!

Are you using glue or the 2 part putty stuff? I ask because I thought the 2 part putty stuff was the only way to combine rocks? If not may I ask what type of glue you are using? I’m going back and forth on ordering a 270 myself.

For some of the pieces I used the mortar from E-marco. For the majority of the rockscape I used thin CA glue. Crushed some rock up into powder and applied it to the joints, then applied the glue to it which made them bond. Also used some fine aragonite sand.
