Looking forward to seeing what you do. I always have grand ideas of what I will do and then I realize it’s real work creating something amazing! Ha! I tried the whole acrylic rod idea and didn’t get through one hole because the rock was so hard to drill through. What better way to pass time while waiting on your new tank than to start on your RockScape. This is not a finalized version of it, but more of a work in progress.
@revhtree the Rockscape to me is the hardest part of this hobby I think as no rock is the same, and trying to find the perfect rock is almost impossible. And finding the perfect balance of how much rock you use, and how the end result is going to look is challenging.
Me and the misses will have been working on it so its going to be a fusion of her vision and my vision on how the rock work is going to look when its said and done.
Might be true, but I am seeing more and more folks take the time to scape their tanks more seriously within the last past couple of years. Might be because we are seeing more of the Dutch Reefers tanks and how they focus on the scape more than anything else in the tank. This would actually make a great QOTD as I believe many people overlook the importance of the Aquascape and taking the time to make sure it’s right. Why does it need to be right? Well for looks, for water flow, for the fish to name a few. Again I always end up just stacking because I get tired and frustrated. I’ll have to add it this fir next week!
Are you using glue or the 2 part putty stuff? I ask because I thought the 2 part putty stuff was the only way to combine rocks? If not may I ask what type of glue you are using? I’m going back and forth on ordering a 270 myself. We were going to hang shiplap on the walls then paint them, but decided not to and just painted the wall.
For some of the pieces I used the mortar from E-marco. For the majority of the rockscape I used thin CA glue. Crushed some rock up into powder and applied it to the joints, then applied the glue to it which made them bond. Also used some fine aragonite sand. Are you using glue or the 2 part putty stuff?
