Pretty happy with aquascape, cycle in progress with Dr. Tim's since Friday. 4 drops per gallon of ammonia got me to about 1.5 ppm on my salifert kit. Bacteria cloud showed up this morning with ammonia at 0. Redosing up to 2 now.

Initial cycle done, ammonia at 0 within 24 hours from 1.5ppm three times. and nitrate at 15 ppm after 10g water change.

Substrate came in, I wasn't sure about BB or not until looking at it for a week or so, rinsing sand now. Went with 40lbs of special grade dry and 20lbs of Fiji pink live. Order of pods from algae barn came in as well.

Light mount should be done in the next day or two, pictures coming with that.

Light mount completed.

With the length of the 40b a 30" would have been perfect, but I got a great deal on this on for about $86.

I'm still not measuring any ammonia 24 hours after dosing up to 1.5-2ppm so I have an order for two firefish at my LFS waiting to be picked up. It's my first time running a fish less cycle so I still feel kinda hesitant.

Firefish have been in for a week, they stopped hiding so much after a few days.
Hopefully having them in and established first will keep them out once others are introduced.

They stay together enough I'm hoping I got a male and female.

Interesting to me...nitrate spiked to over 50ppm an hour after the water change and adding the ceriths. No water from snails added, and they are happily munching diatoms. Water change in progress, gonna do at least 10 gallon tonight if not more depending on time.

Tank is doing great, diatoms pretty much gone. I ordered a screen kit so I don't have to worry about the firefish any more and can get started with stocking. Nitrates dropped back to 5 and have held steady the last few weeks.
