Hi All,
I always say I’ll never do it again, but we all come back, don’t we?

I started this new tank about 4 months ago. It’s a Innovative Marine Nuvo EXT 75 Gallon, with dimensions of 36” L X 24” W X 21” H.

Equipment List
Skimmer- Reef Octopus Classic 150
Algae Turf Scrubber- Clearwater CW-100
Return Pump- IM Mighty Jet XL DC Pump
Powerheads- Two Jecod DMP-20’s across from one another, and 1 Jebao Sow-8 behind the rocks.
Lights- Two Radion XR15
Controller- Apex EL with 2 Energy Bar 832’s
Water Testing- Apex Trident
Auto Water Change- Apex DOS
Dosers- Three BRS dosers for, Alk, Calc, and Mag.
ATO- Tunze Osmolator
RODI- BRS 5 stage RODI system

This tank will contain primarily Softies and LPS coral. I am trying to set it up with lots of automation because, frankly, I’m at that age where I feel that I deserve it!

I am very fortunate to live in a house that is laid out in such a way that equipment can be connected to this tank from a closet directly behind the tank, AND that closet is back to back with a large laundry room with a sink, so I have lots of space and a husband that doesn’t mind me taking over parts of the house for my personal use. This makes the storage of a 32 Gallon Brute for ATO, two 55 Gallon Ace Roto-Mold containers for mixing and storing saltwater, my BRS RODI system, my DOS for auto water changes, and a sink to drain the old water from the tank and the waste water from the RODI system quite easy. I have two 4” access holes between the 3 rooms for electrical cables, sample line for a Neptune Trident, RODI lines from the DOS to the tank and the sink. Well, you get the idea.

In the future I may attempt to make everything a bit neater, but….probably not! :)

Here are some photos.

The tank itself

The Rock is Marco Dry that I fused together using powdered Marco Rock and then added Extra thin Super Glue to. It fuses instantly and also burns your fingers…learned this early in the process.

I wanted a somewhat open scape but still with enough hiding places for the fish.

At the moment I have the following

Fish in the tank.

2 snowflake clowns
1 Flame Angel
1 Starry Blenny
1 Midas Blenny
1 Royal Gramma
1 REALLY SMALL Tomini Tang

Inverts include

2 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
6 Blue Legged Hermit Crabs
An assortment of Snails including
Trochus, Nerite, Nassarius, Cerith, and 1 Fighting Conch

I recently changed out my Nero 5 Powerheads to the new Jecod DMP-20’s.

I really like these Powerheads and the many programs they have.
First, that setup is SUPER COOL, I only wish I had that convenience :)

Second, I have seen a few videos of the new Jecod powerheads but I love the flexibility of the gyre pumps that allow you to move one side different that the other. I was curious as to after a few weeks of use 1.are they worth the money and 2. are you getting the flow that you expected?

Hi, welcome to Reef 2 Reef!!
I’m so grateful to have the space to spread out the hobby so it can be pretty much automated. We are empty nesters so can spread out. My husband has a loft upstairs, so I got the laundry room and closet.

I absolutely love the Jecod powerheads. I have had Nero 5’s, Tunze and ecotech MP10’s and MP40’s over the years, and in my opinion, for my needs, these are my favorite powerheads. They have great flow, many flow patterns, low cost, small size, and mine are silent. That kind of checks all my boxes. The thing that is yet to be determined, however, is how durable and how long they will last. But MP’s wet sides had a tendency to break down too.

Do you have a tank running?

How are your nutrient levels doing? I did my build with Marco rock, same as you did, and had issues with bottoming out nutrients for the first few months. That Marco rock is a phosphate sponge
I have not had any issues this time around. My last tank with Marco rock, though, was a mess with nuisance algae and my Nitrate and Phosphate both bottoming out. I used a different strategy this time, though. I have kept my light schedule short and intensity fairly low for these first few months, I’m using an Algae Turf scrubber and skimmer, but also feeding enough that my nitrates are around 2-5 and phosphate between .02-.05. I have very little algae, so far but I am only 5 months in, so not a long enough track record to claim success on this tank quite yet.

Thanks for the welcome!! Just joined R2R about a month ago. I have been here 1k times looking stuff up etc. Just decided to join on a whim.
We are empty nesters as well, so I have a full fledged fish room in what would typically be a formal living space. I have major case of multiple tank syndrome :smiling-face-with-halo: collectively almost 800gals of saltwater running. I have the IM EXT200 complete reef setup, the IM INT240 complete reef setup, a 100gal, 75gal and 60gal setup all with sumps. Its sounds like a lot but my wife is super supportive. She loves all the fun things about the hobby but doesn't have to deal with the ugly side of it. So it works out for us.
My INT240 is right around 3weeks old but its an "insta-tank" I have so much live rock/sand cooking at any given time in my sumps that when i setup a new tank it is setup with at least 70% live material. With dry new stuff added if needed. I skip the ugly phase all together, usually it is the cyano that haunts me. This time i am checking a new theory of using rock that I know that had cyano but beat it. to see if i can seed the new tank with those specific bacteria strains.
I need to setup and complete my build page. looking at yours has inspired me to at least throw up a simple gear list.. :)
