Update

I have set up my battle station, waiting for water to mix so I don’t cause any salinity swings.. but i doubt 5-6 gallons of water will do too much to 110 gallon system.

anyways! I have got some rough denture cleaning tools as they’re pretty stiff and look like they might be good for getting any eggs off! In addition I *AHEM* procured some tools from my girlfriends beauty kit (she said she never used these before but i still boiled sanitized em) and they appear to be some sort of steel so should be okay!

And for the dip I’m going to do a mixture of revive and iodine. Might do a slightly stronger dip maybe 1.4x with the revive as they will be sort dips but im thinking

5cap fulls per gallon
And 40 drops of iodine. (Roughly a full dropper) :)

i have used stronger iodine dips before and for longer to boot. And usually for infection scares and stuff so i figure this concentration should be okay for a dip
It ain’t all that serious haha! I used this and didn’t even clean it..

Well a few hours later and i can fairly confidently say the other colonies didn’t have any EEFW or even eggs for that matter!

but because one had some I’m treating it as if they all had that heavy infestation! (Probably over kill but there’s no kill like it :))))

i took pictures from every colony/ frag so ill see if they’ll all be uploaded

the only thing that came out in the dip was a few amphipods and a bristle worm which convulsed and died.

the sporadic orange spots where recessed into the skeleton. My theory is some sort of boring algae or something…

That is some heavy procedure. But looks very effective! Did your torches recover yet?

is the flatworm in my picture the same as yours?

I had a couple on a frag from Aquasd. I ran it under warm tap water to get the worms off and used a rusty knife to scrape the skeleton even though I didn't see any eggs. That was probably 6 months ago. No signs of them since.

Hmm kinda hard to tell! Was there only one? Did it kinda come from around the flesh/skeleton boundary? It’s hard to see if it has that euphyllia flesh pattern that i assume helps them blend in

if not it might be some other kinda polyclad (still not ideal but better then EEFW)

also the ones I encountered were big suckers the biggest was about 0.5”

Also 14 ish hour update:

before i went to work I didn’t see any signs of worms, using a flashlight to look for anything near the flesh boundary.

However, probably went overkill on the dip concentration as my dragonsoul and “hellfire” (basically the same thing) dropped a few tips :/

ill post some progress pictures once im back home

24+ hours post dip and scrape #1

torches have been rehomed to sandbed for easier dipping and inspection! So far I’m very happy to see everyone fully extending and wigglin again!

(there was a few dropped torch tips but meh they seem happy to me!!)

i’ll update again for dip and scrape #2

Well i guess it was about time something screwy happened in my tank, euphyllia eating flatworms have decided to make my life difficult.

anyone have any dip suggestions that work best? I used Coral RX and barely seemed to phase the larger ones. I had to scrape and force the ones off in bucket…

I do live in canada so not alot of options that aren’t just “hopes and dreams” in a bottle lol. I have read Revive works somewhat, so that’s where I’ll be starting my dip treatment.

I have roughly 8 torch colonies that will need to be thoroughly inspected and dipped every few days, for at least 6-8+ weeks. F u n : )))

Also anyone ever actually eradicated these buggers?? As opposed to just decreasing their numbers to non-noticeable amounts only for them to pop back up a month down the line

Redsea’s dip claims to kill FW if I remember correctly. Also for in tank treatment I think flatworm exit is available here in Canada, never used it myself though and I’m not sure if it’s fully reef safe.

Sorry I posted this while somehow missing the last page of this thread where you’re already treating. Following along to see treatment progress!

The RedSea dip worked on my euphyllia against the flatworms. Didn’t see any flatworms after dipping.

Update #2!

since the intense procedure of dipping and scraping all 8 of my torch colonies. I have since dipped a few of them at random to check for anymore worms/eggs.

and I’m glad to report i have not seen a single flat worm! Now that’s not saying I’m flatworm free :/ however i do believe i may have spent all this years luck on catching it early enough!

here’s some pictures of the torches as of today! (Sorry I don’t know where my blue light filter is)

I’ve read reports on FW exit not really working on EEFW, I think it really only works on red plenaria ??? But worth a shot if someone wants to experiment!
