Hello :))
I hop you are all having a great week-end!

Here is some information:
my tank is 120g
I have a single REEF-OCTOPUS wave maker of 5000 l/h. as 1200g/h

I never had problem with the flow, until I got coral.. when my wave maker is off my frogspawn coral expend 3x more.
And when I got my elephant ear mushroom,I couldn't even turn on the wave maker, each time I do.Its big size cause that its body behave like the wings of a bird, lol. And she doesn't like it.. I tried twice to keep it.Few hours later she vomits brown stuff.. So I had to turn my wavemaker off..
Is my wavemaker too strong? for my 120g?It is oriented to the glass perpendicular to it to decrease the flow also..And the mushroom and the frogspawn are placed in the "minimum" flow area in the tank

What do you think??
Thank you so much in advanced! :)

What else do you have in the tank? Are you having any other high flow problems like sand dunes or sandy water? From what I can tell from a bit of looking on the interwebs, that sounds like an appropriate amount of gph flow. And are you sure you are putting these corals in the moderate flow areas?

There is the flow of the power head from the sump noted 5000 L/H
Here is the sketch of the flow in my tank,I am pretty sure that the zone I have is the lowest,it is under the wave maker

Sorry forgot to answer your question, yes I have a bit of sand dunes, but nothing important, for the sandy water never. The tank looks like it has a lot of dunes, but it is because yesterday when I got my sea pen,I had to take sand from different spots to fill the pvc tube where it is staying

Thank you :)

If I have my physics right, that is actually a high flow area =X The powerhead blasts towards the front pane, where the flow is dispersed, going down it comes across the sand and hits your corals. It is like a little gyre is happening there. What is the flow like on the left side? I would suggest moving the powerhead to the top middle of the right pane of glass so the flow is more dispersed. However, my physics may be wrong, after all it is 5am here =X

On the left it is worse than the right side because the wave maker is oriented more to the left side, front glass of the tank..

I should try this you are right! :)

Great thinking.. I never though of it that way lol :$

Oh! A night owl! Here it is 12:25PM. hehe
Thank you!

According to your physics, where do you think is the less flow area? lol
I will graduate as an engineer in 3 years, not a good sign haha

Ahahahaha putting me on the spot! I am not really sure. Probably the top of the rocks on the left side. If you move your powerhead do be careful of the sea pen, you don't want to blast him. Hopefully someone else will chime in later =X I need to get some sleep!

Good idea!!
I will try that spot..
But I am okay with my wavemaker you think and my power head? 1200g/h + 1200g/h =2400g/h ?

Thank you! :) and good night lol what is left of it..

Hello! Harry potter fan! lol I am too a fan of this series thank you for the identification :)

As for the flow problem, solved! :)

I placed the wavemaker in an empty corner behind a LR,
check the picture :) I directed the flow to the surface of the water, directed more to the back area of the tank
