Well it has been a long several months but everything has finally aligned the new tank is up and running. A little history in what has been going on.
On the 17th of December I bought several new corals and placed them in my mixed reef Oceanic 95 wave aquarium only to have this happen several minutes later:

Luckily I happened to be home when it happened so I was able to grab a bucket and pick up most of the fish and several corals off of the floor and save them. A local LFS opened up the the store late that night for me to store my homeless pets in a QT tank until I could get everything back up and running.

As several weeks went by drying out the house with several commercial dehumidifiers I was able to keep all of my love rock in a borrowed tub in the kitchen to keep everything alive until I got a new tank:

I finally brought my fish back home and stored them in a 29 long, so it was packed but I kept up on water changes and the chemistry. All but 7 of my fish survived the ordeal, 6 green chromis and 1 clown perished.

During the drying period I ordered a custom acrylic tank with the dimensions of 48" long 30" deep and 24" tall. I also modified a EV-240 skimmer with a beckett and started collecting many other new items for my dream build!

One of my goals for the new tank was to have everything run off of one pump and hard plumb everything. My fuge is a 37 gal aquarium with a DSB and the sump houses a dual 1" drains through a 7" filter sock.

The skimmer mod is crazy, I have a ton of micro bubbles! Here is a shot after several hours on the tank:

man that is crazy. thats why i dont like glass tanks. New build looks nice. years ago I had a 200 glass that had the bottom blow out like that. I was home maybe 10 minutes from work and heard this loud crash. Walked down to the basement and was like squish squish on the carpet then turned to the tank and wow. I feel your pain. the blow out was so hard that it unplugged the power from the wall and threw gravel clear across the room.
