For what it's worth, you can throw the probes in the sump. The water down there will be pretty close to the same temp as the water in the DT as long as the return pump keeps everything moving at a decent rate. Especially if you put them in the spot where the overflow empties into.I am going to be placing an inkbird on my heater and I plan on putting the temperature probes in the main display tank so that I can better track the temperature there versus my sump. However, again, I can place these in a way that they are not very visible.
Do you think I could do the same I have a dc pump that I can control the power with that is running a friends 250 gallon tank mine is a 90 gallon tank do you think the pump alone would provide enough flow to allow me to remove my two power heads right now I’m only running it at 37 watts I can crank it up a heck of a lot more if neededI can't stand equipment in the tank, that's why I went overkill on my return pump. Plenty of flow in my little tank and no wires.
Ideally, not only no sign of wires or equipment but no sign of plumbing including overflows or lights.
Now this looks like a real reef! Great job.1. Do you care about having equipment wires showing in your reef tank display?
not only wires, any and all equipment. I have never understood why people make beautiful scapes, have all this beautiful coral and fish and are ok with wires, pumps, heaters, overflows... showing. but to each their own as they say.
2. What are some creative ways you've found to minimize wires showing?
aquascape design hides everything. the thought that your scape can be too high in areas is complete non-sense.
my scape brakes the surface in one corner. (hides the return line. two of my bta's have taken up residence right at the surface.
rear upper left corner.: return line, gyre 230 vertical just below it.
rear right corner: heater and gyre 230 vertical
over flow right side glass

your Build Thread Badge takes me to your profile page. no build thread?. Do you care about having equipment wires showing in your reef tank display?
Yes! I definitely care when I look into my tank I want to see what it would be like if I was really in the ocean not wires and equipment that make it look so fake.
