Espino’s Shallow SPS Dream (Waterbox Frag Platinum)

Hello everyone,

I started reefing about 2-3 years ago and began with a Fluval 13.5. This past year I set up a IM50EXT which thought me about myself as well as the hobby. I learned that in a lazy reefer and don’t like to test as well as do water changes. I also learned how rewarding reefing is when I take care of my tank.

I had the opportunity to purchase a used Waterbox Frag platinum from a local reefer that came equipped with an apex so I jumped on it. The tank has sat in my garage for about a month as I built a control board, water mixing station and cycled my rock. Today is the day I decided to move everything inside and get the build going. I hope you enjoy my shallow dream as much as I do!

Making some progress today. I’m hoping to transfer all my fish tonight as my corals will be going on my jbj15

Finally swapped out my old tank today. I lost 3 gonis and fought with a Nem for about an hour. I eventually broke the rock and put it inside my jbj15.

I also broke the Acrylic tube on my skimmer so I may replace it as it’s bubbling like crazy. (I know I could drill it and replace but I’d rather not) I’ve had that skimmer for about a year and has been great.
Any recommendations for a new skimmer?

Hey everyone. So that tank has been set up for a little over a week now. I didn’t experience an “ugly” stage thus far as my rock was previously cycled and I used some from my old set it.

I added a trident today as they were on sale and my goal is to keep sps corals in my tank.

I recently tested my paramiters and they’re sitting at:
Dkh 8.1
CA 444
MG 1370
NO3: .05
PO4: .12

Quick update.

last night a purchased 2 small cabinets from ikea so I could have more storage next to the tank. I also installed my trident and another XR15 Pro. I’m running 2 blues and 1 pro at the moment.

my lenses are coming in tomorrow so I can take photos of my acros/sps. Once the lenses get here, I’ll start adding progress pics of my livestock.

What's up everyone. So these past 2 weeks I really got my tank dialed in. Unfortunately i broke my UV Sterilizer trying to clean it up so I need to order a new one soon. I have my calcium reactor sitting pretty for now and ordered a Jebao 4 head dosing pump until my reactor needs to be used. I also added another Gyre to the tank for surface agitation. I may part ways with the MP40 for now.

Hey everyone. I picked up a few more corals this past weekend. After these I don’t see myself adding anymore sps for a good while, however I may add a torch or 2.

my Foxflame is starting to take off and everything else is making minimal progress, hopefully within the next month or so I see some more growth. I’m finally going back into the office for work so it gives me time away from the tank.

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted any updates. 2 kids and work can definitely get in the way!

today I added some 36” UV orphek OR3 bars. Over the past 2-3 months I’ve added a handful of acros and other corals. Things are finally starting to grow as everything has been stable.

this upcoming weekend I’ll be setting up my calcium reactor as I can’t seem to find the sweet spot for CA and MG.

added the calcium reactor tonight but won’t be set up for a few more days as my bubble counter is leaking.
Any other option? Running a Tunze regulator with a solenoid.
