What’s everyone, I’ve had a few tanks and never had them set up for more than a year. I sold my Waterbox at about the 1 year mark when I started maturing.
After my wife and I sold the tank and our condo, she agreed to let me get which ever tank I wanted. The reefer 650 was most fitting!

This tank will be my “forever tank” until
I grow out of it! I hope you all enjoy the tank and the build.

I’ll start off with a tank shot of my old Waterbox before I took her down!

Here are some photos of the reefer 650 progress! Currently working on the aqua scape and making RODI water. Should have it filled and aquascaped by this weekend!

Small update everyone. I finally mixed enough water using instant ocean salt and started to cycle it with Dr Tim’s one and only. 24 hours later, I’m reading 0 ammonia. I added more than enough and actually added sand today as well!

I’ll update once first fish and corals go in

Hello everyone,

Here’s a little update on the tank. I finally got some time to clean things up and add some chromis. So far the fish are doing great ( 0 ammonia), I added 4 bags of sand a few nights ago and cleaned up the sump.
I had the opportunity to add some lighting with a sensor.

I have some ideas for livestock and want to add a moorish idol and copperband before adding any tangs. I never had luck adding a copper band after the tangs.

Hopefully you’re all enjoying the updates!

Hi all, here’s a quick update:

I added a pair of clowns, 5 bengai carndinals and 5 pajama cardinals along with a mystery wrasse and a six line wrasse. I also have a purple tang and naso tang in QT (28 g tank with copper) as they had ich on their fins.
I’ve also added acros I purchased from a local reefer.

Initially the Acros browned out and I placed 1 in direct flow so that 1 Acro didn’t make it. As of now all acros have polyp extension and are coloring up. The gonis are fully extending along with the Torch’s.

biggest part is that I drilled a hole and ran the ATO directly to the tank from the garage. Next I’ll be setting up the DOS for automatic water changes to keep the tank as consistent as possible.

here’s a quick photo of the garage set up along with the tank with lights out. After I do the next water change, I’ll clean the glass and take some nice photos.

My wife and I also added a pup to our family. Meet ZaZu the Giant Schnauzer. 82AEF41A-F01B-4B07-A406-8D84B79C52CB.jpeg 2D1AF45E-D67D-462A-92F2-510123AFD771.jpeg 05621B91-E0B2-4898-99D4-416C2C36F488.jpeg ACCAE3E8-F9E0-48B9-A1B6-AA6CC122E11D.jpeg

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a while since I posted as I had a massive algae breakout. It was something I’ve never experienced and didn’t know how to battle it. I went from 8 hours light to 2 hours to fight it for 3 weeks and added a UV sterilizer to help the battle. It finally cleared up and the tank is looking healthier then ever.

Along the way, I lost a gem tang, Tomini tang, shoulder and a few cardinals. I didn’t quarantine them as they looked healthy. All the fish did great for sometime and randomly stopped eating. I kind of feel like my purple tang has something to do with it.

I installed 2 @Orphek OR120 lights like I did on my previous set up! I used XR30 brackets like my old set up to hang them.

Recently I won the @AlgaeBarn $200 gift card from the toy drive as well so I was thinking of adding some more pods to help coral growth.

I took some photos today of the tank as it looked super clean for once. I hope you all like and look forward to adding more fish and coral! The tank is finally maturing and growing coraline algae as well.
