Since 2006 with three different tanks approximately 5k total current tank 210 bought used off Craigslist and some equipment from fellow reefers. I do side jobs to afford my hobbies. Wife and I made a deal of no income from normal job goes to the tank. So if I want something I have to do side work.

3k tank 4k lights 2k pumps 4k stand surround, Apex system with 3 bars and still need 1 more, trident, couple dos units and a spare, cor20 and spare cor20, too many other Apex gadgets, bashsea sump, various heaters and reactors, water mixing station and external panworld pump....guess about the same as a nice 80's air cooled Porsche. I live in Canada, so everything is more money. I don't want to think about fish and coral costs.

Nice 20g 6mos old alot of coral and a few fish I've definitely spent over 7k......

Holy cow!!!! I’m probably at 2-3k at 1.5 years in and I’m 95% stocked and probably won’t spend much in the next 6 months!

Granted I don’t automate anything I just don’t see where you could spend 7k on a 20G unless you have a lot of high end corals.

Can I see some pics of your tank? I don't automate anything either just a powerhead HOB filter and a heater I do 5g water changes weekly

Over 10k on a Red Sea E 260 and Fluval evo 13.5. Have about 1k in euphyllia and zoas. 4 ocillaris clowns and a lot of blown cash on the learning curve. Been doing this for only 4 months :-o. The addiction is real!
