Hi everyone!

First all - if you've come to this thread even though many are like it - thank you, I truly appreciate your time.

And for some background: I've had this torch coral in my tank for over three months now. It will be flowy during the day and throughout the afternoon and evening it will go through periods of retraction with varying degrees of extension until the next day. I've noticed this happens occasionally when RedSea AB+ coral food is dosed as well. It appears to be fully extended the next morning. Rinse and repeat. Same issues with acans.

When I get a new torch (or acan), it will be long and flowy day and night, until invariably it starts following this cycle.

This doesn't seem normal but I am not sure what to do!

Tank: Waterbox 45.2, overall volume ~40 gallons.
Water changing: 10% every week
Light schedule is for an AI Prime HD with the WWC light schedule (image attached)

Parameters are:
Alk: 8-9 dkh
Calcium: 430
Mag: 1350
NO3: 4.3
PO4: 0.04-0.08

Dosing:
AB+: 16 ml/day split into 4 ml x4 times
NOPOX: 1 ml/day

Feeding:
1 coral gumbo and 1 mega algae Hikari every day

To me, this sounds like feeding behavior, but it could be (momentarily) irritated with the addition of food. Mine also retracts/expands but I'm not sure if it's quite the same as what yours is doing.

"normal" will be different for corals in different tanks - they will always behave different
