Hey guys, so this frogspawn I've had for about 6months and it was doing great in my 20g for a long time but the past few months it hasn't been opening up all that much. It hasn't show any skeleton or receded but the tentacles just don't inflate like they used to. Not sure what the problem is, all my other euphyllia look great. Is it possible it's splitting heads?

Tank parameters

Temp 78
Salinity 1.025-1.026
Calcium 450
Magnesium 1450
Nitrate 10
Phosphate 0.15
Ammonia 0
Ph 8.1

Using AI hydra 32 custom schedule.

I've since moved this frogspawn from my 20g to my 14g and it looks a little bit better but still not great. Please lmk what you guys think or if you have any advice.

It’s hard to say. My euphyllia often did better after a water change. But you say the others are well so I don’t know. I personally would leave it it one place, make sure to keep up on water changes, and make sure no other coral is bothering it. I have some encrusting hard corals that will attack my euphyllia at night with mesenterial filaments.

My duncan did this when it was growing a new head. Pretty normal.

If it stays like that for the next few days, then I would be worried.
It's been like that for a few months now some days fully open other days closed up

If that's the case, it:s working on a split. Some odd reason, the first split is the longest. And not all grow the same rate.
In your opinion how long does it take for frogspawns to split generally?

My first one I had took 6 months. The one I have now is budding and not splitting. But I only had it for 2 weeks.

On average a healthy split every 2 to 3 months

Edit: after the first split. Its easier to see growth when you have 2 to 3 heads.

I agree with this. Once my Duncan split for the first time, it took a long while. But once it did split, the other heads just sort of popped in there.

It’s sort of like the coral is “testing the waters” (quite literally) to see if it’s good to reproduce. If the first split goes well, prepare for more!
