Looks like a great product but lacking if most customers want or needed it modded right at the start
This is true, there is room for improvement. Hopefully since they're a member of this forum, they'll see it and improve on the design in the future :)

For those of you who understand the finer points of lighting, how does this fixture compare to metal halide t5 hybrids?

Would the 48” fixture with a single ap700 mounted in the middle be ok on a mixed reef tank Red Sea reefer 525xL which is 5 feet wide

I am also curious on this question, specially with BRS having them on sale this week. Would a 48” fixture be suffice for a 60” tank? Goal is mix reef. Anyone currently have a set up like this?

Perhaps @Crabs Mcjones has some insight he used the ap700 on his 40b.
5 feet wide? Thats a wide tank!:D
I assume its a 60" long tank, and with that i'd use this light and two AP700's for proper coverage. A single AP700 just won't be able to handle the spread of a 60" tank even with T5's.

I agree with others that I think you would be a lot happier with a 5 foot fixture in the long run.

Funny you should ask! :) I actually just replaced the 48" fixture last weekend with a 60" on my 5ft tank. I was running 3 XR15s with it and just wasn't happy with the lower light at the ends of the tank. While I was at it I even added a 4th XR15 and it looks so much better.

I was told I should get two 36 inch fixtures for my red sea reefer 750 but that is so much extra cost in both buying two fixtures and maintaining all those lights. I currently run 4 AI hydra 26's that came with the deluxe kit. I only have LPS at the moment but plan on mixed reef in the future. Question is, can I get away with just the one 60 inch fixture?

Should not have any problem with the 60 inch feature. These lights are to supplement the LED's you already have. With an LPS dominant tank and adding these fixtures would be geat. They 4 LED's you have can be spaced however you like so it will allow you to reduce shadowing and make sure you have coverage coast to coast.

For 71", if it were raised a little higher, I would imagine would work fine for a mixed tank with most of your high PAR demand corals directly under the 60" fixture. The only way I think a 60" wouldn't work on a larger tank is if you were aiming for wall-to-wall jam packed SPS, which doesn't seem like your goal. :)

Thanks Randy. Just curious, are the aquatic life fixtures subject to MAP pricing? Wondering if I should wait for 10x points to place an order.
