We all know that the fish and coral are what draw the hobbyist, but I believe that it's a community that helps keep the hobbyist! Aside from the awesome times we have here on Reef2Reef, there are so many opportunites to connect with your reefing family. Do you have any plans to connect this year?

Is there a forum or thread dedicated to listing reefing events? I didn't find one but my search skills are probably off today due to lack of sleep ...

Thanks in advance.

I am in some local shows, and try to get out to a regional one every few years. But talking tanks with all the Reefers is my favorite part of the shows. It’s the only chance I get to see anyone anymore.

I go to any that are in the area and have even driven down to Houston for their big show. I think the local garage sellers on facebook have killed the local shows in the DFW area. Other than Aquashella (which sounds like it may not happen this year) the shows are poorly attended. For the last couple of years there are almost as many vendors as there are customers. I thought RAP was even poorly attended based on the size, though I've never have heard attendance numbers. Last March the freshwater club was having a show the same day as the reefing frag swap. The freshwater show started an hour earlier so I went by there first. I couldn't find a parking spot and the line was wrapped around the building and it had been open for half an hour. I just went on to the reefing show. There was maybe 20 people there. I guess it is good for me because I can get some great deals because the vendors want to actually sell something to pay for the booth.

There is a frag swap this weekend. Hopefully the attendance will be there. I do most of my shopping at the frag swaps so I hope they can still happen in the future.

Definitely this year. We got sick 2 days before RAP in socal back in September. We were so bummed out. We will definitely be attending this year so long as we aren't sick.

We won't be attending RAP any more. The 2024 Anaheim event was a train wreck. We drove in from Phoenix and the hotel where the event was wouldn't let us park in their parking structure, so we had to circle the hotel complex several times and eventually got funneled into the Hilton parking garage where we had to pay $30 for 2 hours. Then we spent $60 for 2 admission tickets for the opportunity to struggle through thousands of people to even get anywhere near the vendor display tanks and look at grossly overpriced coral frags, most of them were fresh cuts. So that was it for us we won't return.

If it wasn't for the $30 to park my #$%@# car I might have been ok but that pushed me over the top. Our trip cost us about $1200 and was a complete waste of money. We'd have been better off buying a bunch of corals online with free shipping and staying home. I'm not sorry for the dose of reality.

There's no telling me how wrong I am, I was there!

You should have come to the Dallas RAP. I doubt they had a 1000 people over the entire event. When I went on Saturday there might have been 300 people there at most.
