My first rig was a used Nikon D5300 ($350), used Tamron 90mm macro ($150), and a brown filter ($20). I consider that not too bad of an initial investment to start taking nice pictures of our reefs.

My husband did pick up a sony a6000. I just have to look for the lens now. He has a lens, don't know what one it is. So far I love the camera, just not my skills ;Hilarious

If it’s not a macro lens, you can always try getting extension tubes and using them with his lens. I forgot I started with extension tubes before buying my first dedicated macro lens.

I was curious if anybody could tell I got a new 100mm Canon pro macro lens. I was using the Tamron 90mm macro before.

did I notice? no....but the pics look quite a bit crisper than before now that you mentioned it. the trick question is, when/how far back was the switch? lol

With my brain, I couldn’t remember but it was a pretty recent switch.
