Tridacna clams are amazing and gorgeous creatures! Cultured clams do well in most well established reef aquariums. Commonly available species include Maxima, Crocea, Deresa, and Squamosa. Colors and patterns vary greatly between the different species and within species. Maxima and Crocea have the most intense colors and more desirable blue, green, or turquoise colors, but Squamosa and Deresa have very interesting patterns and tend to be more hardy and easier to keep than the other species. I have no idea what kind this is, but I've been reefing less than 2 years and just purchased it yesterday. My first, saw it and couldn't leave my LFS without it.

I have the freshwater version of these guys (at least they look the same). I want to set up a camera to catch them walking around. They always go for a stroll when I'm not looking! Haha.

Haha that'd be a cool thing to catch.

These guys are supposed to stroll around as well, though for some reason mine don't. I mean I guess it's coz I chuck them in rockwork where they are kinda wedged, so maybe that. XD

tried a year ago.
can't keep them alive.
growing up in Michigan as a young lad, every trip north we would beg dad to stop.
the billboard claimed "World's Largest Man Eating Clam"

I remember this, "Sea Shell City". I used to bug my folks to stop here as well.

On topic, have not had a clam, would love to try. If I can pull off the same "magic" as I did with my dragon soul torch I would happily add one.

Would love to get a clam but I read they need high light. However I’ve seen a few pics here that looks like they are put right next to other lps, which are low to medium light. I’m mostly lps and have 75 to 100 par on sand. 110 mid tank. How are you guys keeping clams with lps tanks?
