Looking for recommendations on feeding coral. My tank has been up for about 4 months now and I already hit a road block with Marine Velvet. I am currently letting my DT go fishless for 76 days. I only have a few coral but they don't seem to be doing very well. Especially my trumpet, it use to be very plump and growing rapidly, not it seems to be shrunken up with no signs of growth at all. Water parameters are all in check minus my Calcium and Magnesium being high. Any input would help, Thank you.

So do you think that high Calcium and Magnesium levels could be ticking off the corals?

What are your nutrients testing at?
No fish, new tank, probably have very low nutrients = angry coral

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, work takes a lot of my time. I just finished testing my parameters;

Ammonia Nitrite and Nitrate - 0ppm
Dkh- 6.4
CA- 500
Magnesium- 1520
PH averages 8.2

I understand that Dkh should be a lot higher, I’m going to start working on that. How can I lower Ca and Mg?

As dkh goes up, calcium tends to go down (not sure about mag). So my advice:

Slowly start raising your dkh +.25 maximum each day until it hits your desired lvl (I keep mine in the 8.8-9.0 range)

Start feeding your corals...reef roids would be best. With 0 nitrates your lps are probably not happy

+1 to this definitely take it slow with the params, and feed roids!
