My clown female suddenly has a large chunk out of the first 2-3 sections of her front dorsal fin. Not sure how it happened, but it looks like a bite to me. Is there anything I should do? She's been in a long term pair ca 3 years. No new fish, except in other tank which is in the same room. Some of those clowns had some kind of fin rot, but it was months ago.

Other fish in the tank are a blenny, dottyback and damsel.

Fins heal fast if it’s just physical damage like a bite

In a healthy environment fish have amazing regenerative capabilities. When this happens to me I take extra care to keep the tank clean and keep a very close eye on ths patient. If anything about the wound changes other than new growth, start treatment.

Good news!
No idea about the star. I trust my lfs implicitly and he warned me off them, so I took his advice.

I doubt it’s from the brittle starfish
